Family business dispute

A successful family business had been built up over years. The death of a parent, one of the founders of the business, created tensions in the family with the next generation. 

Matters became increasingly fraught, affecting both the business and family relationships. There was a serious risk of litigation, with minority shareholders’ rights being asserted, and other detrimental actions. Parties had not spoken for a long time. 

Two days of mediation brought about the first stage of family reconciliation and a new business model.
