Visit of Ken Cloke

Master Class for Mediators

The Core Conversation and Supper

11 and 12 December 2008

We are hugely privileged that one of the world’s leading figures in the field of conflict resolution has accepted Core’s invitation to visit Edinburgh in December this year.

Kenneth Cloke is a distinguished author, academic, mediator and conflict resolution strategist from California and currently President of Mediators Beyond Borders (http://www.mediatorswithoutborders.org/). His book “Mediating Dangerously” is regarded by many as a classic. It has been said that there is “no-one more deeply versed in conflict resolution, locally and globally, personally and professionally, privately and politically, than Ken” and that “Ken’s teachings provide inspiration and courage to those who dream of changing the world, and guidance to those who strive to change themselves.”

John Sturrock comments: “Ken Cloke is a master. I recently attended an international mediation group meeting in Geneva where Ken spoke. He had the audience enthralled. His understanding (and experience) of conflict resolution is profound. He has deep understanding of developments in behavioural psychology and the neuro-sciences which enable him to make fascinating links and provide explanations for much of what happens in conflict and its management and resolution. His books are among the best in the area. I personally carry Cloke’s Mediating Dangerously with me to most mediations.

If we are serious about conflict resolution and, and about being good and better conflict resolvers ourselves, we need to sit at the feet of people like Ken Cloke. If sitting at the feet seems an inappropriate suggestion for senior people, I can reassure you that Ken is one of the most humble and compassionate of men I have ever met.

Ken will be with us on Thursday 11 (9.30am – 5pm) and Friday 12 December (9.30am - 1pm), conducting a Master Class for Mediators. His topics will include:
