“Core’s mediation and conflict management skills training has been
a rich learning experience.”
The Scottish Government has now
issued the Guide to the Use of Mediation in the Planning System which
was prepared by Core. To read, click here.
Read here the press release accompanying Cabinet
Secretary John Swinney’s launch of the Guide.
This field has real potential to
grow in Scotland and Core has recently been involved in a significant mediation
involving land development and renewable energy.
“A snapshot of developments in the past two years. We have taken
approximately 130 of the mediations in which Core Mediation has been engaged
over a period of just over two years between January 2007 and January 2009 and
sought to break down the statistics, anonymously, into various categories in
order to provide a summary of what is happening.”

of Mediation in Practice published recently in the Scots Law Times.

MATA is running two new

John Sturrock became the first Scot to be inducted into the Academy
in a ceremony in New York recently. He was awarded the status of Distinguished
Fellow.
John commented: “It is good to be able to bring a Scottish voice
to the discussions and global deliberations of this group of international
mediators. I am honoured to have been invited to become a member of the
Academy.”
The mission of the International Academy of Mediators is to define
standards and qualifications for the professional mediator of commercial
disputes and to promote the mediation process as the preferred means of
resolving disputes. http://www.iamed.org
