The Core Foundation

We will look at mediation in its broadest sense, from its very specific origins in the resolution of conflict to the role that neutral third parties can play in a number of contexts.

We will give particular attention to mediation's potential to:

• help manage, resolve and prevent conflict
• improve the design and delivery of projects
• enhance effective leadership
• promote greater co-operation within and between organisations
• underpin collaboration and co-operation in political matters
• support international efforts to address the critical issues facing humankind

The Foundation will pursue its objectives through encouraging greater dialogue and more effective communication.

Activities will include the publication of occasional papers and the organisation of seminars and other events. Consideration will be given to the commissioning of specific research projects, which will help to increase understanding of mediation's potential.
